You know that kind of feeling when you’ve got so many things on your plate that you don’t know where to start, you don’t know what to do first, you can’t move on. Like you’re in quick sand and you’re sinking in work, feels like you’re losing your breath, and there’s so much noise you can’t see clearly anymore, and you fall back into sleep and just shutdown for a moment… many moments.

I know that feeling. I’ve been there many times.

And I’ve found ways to get out of that situation. Some of my techniques includes getting clear and getting clean. Let’s talk about Getting Clear.

Getting Clear

Getting clear means being clear with what you want to accomplish with your time and energy.

On the bigger picture, I define my long-term goals. I write this down on my Novena to God’s Love. This is a set of seven goals I read to myself in the morning to remind me of where I want to go in my life. My goals are geared towards important aspects of my life: Relationships, Professional, Financial, Spiritual, Self-Expression, Contribution, Physical, Liesure. My goals are specific, measurable, exciting, risky and time bound – SMERT! (lol!).

On the day-to-day action level, I also focus on how I want to use my time and energy. At the end of each day, after I thank the Lord for the day that has passed, I list down the top three things that I want to accomplish for the next day. I write it down on my notebook.

This simple writing action has helped prompt my subconscious to (1) find me creative solutions and resources as I sleep and (2) wake me up early in the morning raring to work on my goals for the day.

There. Two tips I use to get clear. When I’m clear with where I want to go, it doesn’t matter what clutter or noise comes along the way. I move forward, keeping my focus, knowing that the challenges are always part of the journey. Then all the clutter will just be “decorations” along the way, instead of obstacles.

What goals do you want to achieve this year?
What do you want to accomplish today?
Get clear. And the universe shall conspire.

Tomorrow, I write about getting clean.
